What is an Uganda Transit e-Visa?

This e-Visa is for travelers transiting through Uganda for a period not exceeding 2 days in Total. Applicants are required to have a confirmed onward booking from Uganda to a third country or other acceptable plans to depart Uganda within 2 days after arrival.

What is an Uganda eVisa?

An Electronic Visa or “e Visa” is an electronically issued and stored authority for travel to The Republic of Uganda, which replaces the traditional paper visa process in most cases, relieving applicants from necessity to stand in queues in Uganda consulates or at the border.

I plan to travel to Uganda from another country for a short trip and return back to Uganda again. Do I need to apply for two visas?

In this case, you should consider ordering a multiple entry visa. If you can only order single entry visas you should order two of them.

It is not mandatory but it is recommended. The bar-code present in the e visa approval letter will be used for accessing your application at the point of entry so bringing it with you to present to the immigration officials will speed up the final approval process.

Do I need to obtain a separate e-Visa to Uganda for persons accompanying me?

Yes. Each traveler must have a separate e-Visa.

Do children above the age of 12 that still travel with their parent's passport need a visa to Uganda?

Yes. All children above the age of 12 require a visa, despite traveling with a parent’s passport or with their own passport.

How will I receive the Uganda visa online?

The decision taken on the application will be sent electronically through the email provided by the applicant.If approved, an approval letter will be sent as an attachment to the email provided. The eVisa must be presented upon crossing the state border of Uganda along with the valid travel document.

Do I need a visa to enter Uganda?

What is the maximum stay allowed with a Uganda Transit e-Visa?

The maximum number of days allowed with a Transit e-Visa is Single Entry. This means that your layover/transit time in Uganda cannot exceed this period.

If approved, does this guarantee my admission to Uganda?

The final approval is done at the selected point of entry or at the Immigration Office. Be aware that if your are out of Uganda is mandatory to present a valid visa approval letter for entering in Uganda. Any other permit does not allow you to enter the country.

What is the difference between the approval letter and the visa or permit?

The approval letter sent by email or downloaded through the Uganda electronic visa/permit web site establishes that you are eligible for the approved visa or permit, but does not establish that your application is approved.

This final approval will be done at the selected point of entry (in the case of a visa) or at the Immigration Office Headquarters where the visa or permit sticker will be printed and it will be pasted to the passport.

Do I need to present a print out of my e-visa when I arrive in Uganda?

Though it is not mandatory, it is recommended. The e-visa is electronically linked to your passport. However, the bar-code on your e-visa approval can be used to access your application at the point of entry, just in case.

In case I have more than one passport, is it possible to apply for Visa for Uganda using the information from one passport and then travel with another passport?

No, unfortunately, is not possible. Travelers are required to travel only with the passport that has been used on their Uganda e-visa application.
